Today I was apparently in quite the cooking mood. This morning I got a major craving for the garlic grits from JCT Kitchen, combined with the goat cheese grits from Mosaic. I decided to concoct my own version combining the two and have them with an egg sandwich con toasted ham. It was so good, and perfect for a rainy Monday. Next time I think I will add jalapeno to the grits.

I ran across this recipe on punchfork, and after staring at the main picture for a few minutes, decided it was something I needed to try...plus, the name of it is pretty awesome and crazy. Kyle thought it looked weird too, but he will try pretty much anything I make :) IT WAS SO GOOD. You have to make it. It was super easy, healthy, and so unlike anything I have ever had. We had ours with toasted naan instead of the pita bread it suggests because our grocery store didn't have any pitas. Welcome to Arkansas. (don't ask me why they have naan?!)

I have decided that I need to start writing more. Hopefully I can keep it up.

Yesterday was the way I want every day to be. Kyle surprised me with some lovely flowers and a Zaxby's salad at lunch time. I couldn't really talk or anything because I was on a conference call preparing for a presentation we had 30 minutes later, but it was nice to just sit at our desks and be in the same room. The flowers smell so good.

While browsing twitter later during the day, I saw that there was an event at a local bakery where you could buy a ceramic bowl that a college student made and that they would fill it with homemade soup. I decided that this is what I wanted to do for dinner. I got the pumpkin soup and Kyle chose cream of asparagus (those 2 were the only choices), and they were both pretty tasty. I love the bowls we chose and it felt good to help the students raise money for their trip to Seattle.

We decided to get a cream puff to take home to have later on in the evening and it was HUGE. and delicious.

I am really enjoying living in this small town. At dinner last Friday night with Kyle's boss, his wife, and a coworker visiting from NYC, I asked his boss' wife what her favorite bands were and the second one she named was Mates of State. I think things are going to be just fine.

She's mine. MINE! My friend Leah sent me this deal yesterday. Of course I couldn't go for the small 4.5 quart white one. I had to go all out. I got the Artisan 5 quart mixer in Imperial Gray. It ended up being $244 with the shipping surcharge and tax, but then they sent me $40 of Kohl's cash (Kyle you want some new work clothes?) bringing the total down to $204..and THEN I get to pick a free gift...! Glass bowl with lid, meat grinder attachment, or shredder/chopper attachment. I am choosing the glass bowl- a $70 value, for sure! I am so so so so so excited. Thank you, Leah!

If anyone is looking to get a KitchenAid mixer, this is the best deal I have found...and believe me, I have been looking for a LONG time :)
